Flood Gauge
Flood Gauge
The
GSI-2543 Flood Gauge notifies 911 districts, highway departments, etc. of the
presence of water on a street, road, or highway and provides a second notice
when the water level makes the road impassable to emergency vehicles. If you
live in an area where sudden downpours (rain) create draining problems, then you
probably have seen stalled and abandoned cars due to street flooding.
The Flood Gauge (patent pending) will provide information to emergency groups
(Ambulance, Fire Department, Police Department, etc.) on the safe routing of
emergency vehicles during flooding conditions, i.e., storms, and hurricanes. It
can be used by traffic organizations, traffic news (radio, TV, and Internet) to
provide information on potential holdups or traffic congestion. The Flood Gauge
indicates to city, county, state or other highway departments when to close
streets, roads, or highways.
Level sensors within the Flood Gauge are actuated when water reaches a target
level (Street grade and/or maximum operating height for emergency vehicles). The
sensor upon an event signals the Cellular RTU within the Flood Gauge. The
Cellular RTU then calls our IP host, providing cellular RTU I.D. and data. The
I.P. Host software takes the RTU I.D. and matches it to the user (customer),
location, defines what the event configuration means, and passes it to the
customer via either a file transfer, a WEB page, e-mail, pager, phone voice
recording, or fax.
The information from the Flood Gauge to the customer is usually received in less
than a minute. The (File Transfer) information can be integrated with other
customer software (mapping, dispatch, etc.) to show the flooded areas to be
avoided.
Other versions of the Flood Gauge are designed for the continuous level (or
flow) monitoring of creeks, streams, rivers, and lakes.
